i will come when you call but i'm about as quick as molasses

i'm starting a new segment.

it's called "notes from the teacher"

Just to advise you that Nate had a time-out today because he threw sand at a friend...Would you please remind Nate about the importance of following rules for safe play.

What I wanted to write back:

Thank you for providing me with this "teachable moment" because he's such an angel and doesn't create ANY at home. I also appreciate that you think that I'm a retard and don't already enforce rules for "safe play".

What I did write back:

Thank you for letting me know. I spoke to Nate and he said he threw sand because a friend threw it at him first. I let him know that even if that was true it is not ok to throw sand and if someone does it to him he should tell them he doesn't like it and if they continue to let the teacher know.

Oh, and there was an idiot driver this am and i was running late and lost my cool and dropped the f-bomb while the kids were in the car. Nate promptly said Mommy why did you say "f*&@" I lied and said I didn't, I said dork...

Maybe I am a terrible mother.

happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you

what a week!

Jess arrived on Saturday and I don't think we stopped. Between Mom's 60th b-day, a visit with Pen and a surprise visit from Colleen, 3 shopping trips to Bayshore and one to Montreal I didn't get near the amount done around the house that I wanted to but I couldn't have asked for a better week off.

It was just what I needed to take my mind off things.

Today we had Nate's 4th b-day party. Just family, i thought inviting his friends from school would be a bit premature since he's only known them for just a couple weeks. Plus, I don't think I could have dealt with more than one 4 year old hyped up on sugar and excitement over new toys.

He even got a special phone call which was very nice.

Well, I'm exhausted and it's back to the grind tomorrow.

baby i'm howlin' for you

long time no blog.

last Wed was Nate's first day of JK. I was way more emotional than I thought I would be.

when he got home he had notes in his bag about how he talked too much, was disruptive etc. etc.

it set me off, i literally balled all night.

i have since talked to the teacher and smoothed things over.

now Jess is here and I feel much better. Nate has followed with better days at school.

feeling more settled. feeling better. looking forward to mom's 60th b-day tomorrow. yummy keg.

now i'm ready to start

LOL's from cbc.ca

9. Politics and business aside, Hamilton is a state of mind.

Fascinating watching the folks in the Hammer argue over the site of a future new home for the Tiger-Cats and Pan American Games track and field (oops, make that soccer).

They sound just like a bickering couple.

City: We're building the stadium in the port area.

Cats: Then we're not going to be involved. We want our site on the highway, and if not, up on Hamilton Mountain*.

City: Too bad. We're going to build it in the port area anyway.

Cats: Fine, then we're leaving and going home to mother in Oshawa. See you.

City: Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

One week passes.

Cats: So, we're back. How about this new site over here?

City: Ummm. Sure. Why not?

Cats: Sorry about that. We weren't really leaving.

City: We know. We were being pig-headed too. Come and get a big hug. (Audience goes "Awwww" and applauds).

*Note for those in B.C.: Hamilton Mountain refers to a small southern Ontario ridge that in your province would be known as a "hill."

which way did our last chance go and can we get there if we go right now

well, one week down. is that it? has it been that long already?

we seem to be settling quite well.

got a busy weekend planned, meeting Susan for brunch and fabric shopping then Chantal is coming over in the evening, church on Sunday.

I actually managed to vacuum the basement and most of the main floor tonight. Maybe I don't need a cleaner...

on a completely different topic...why can't men be men anymore? why do they all have to look like androgynous maybe gaybe's? either that or they seem to be suffering from "girl butt" (men should never ever have a pear shape or bubble butt). I don't know why I'm even noticing but it just seems to be so pervasive. And I can't stand those half visor/half aviator style sunglasses. do guys not realize they look like giant douche's?

I'm so glad Jay is a guy, like a guy guy.

Also, if a strange guy just randomly talking to you when you are walking across the park n ride parking lot is he hitting on you? it happened yesterday. he was wearing his Air Force blues. nobody hits on me anymore...must be getting old - lol!

then i guess i'll just begin again

well, it's been over a week since "it" happened. so far so mostly good :)

getting into the new routine. it's going smoothly for the most part.

Nate is def having some separation anxiety issues but nothing major.

i am however tired and feel like i should probably direct my efforts toward something more productive.

i said i'm lonely, but i ain't that lonely yet

well, Thursday and Friday were good - spent with Mags while Nate was at school having a ball and ruining two shirts (i thought all kid's paint was supposed to come out...) easy breezy. Then yesterday and today - though not bad days per se, they have been long days.

I kind of wish that tomorrow wasn't a holiday...

can't think of a title

well it has been a stressful few days but life continues.

today I took Nate to his new daycare which is essentially his school so it was really like his first day of school even though his JK "classes" don't start until the 15th.

I barely got him in the door and he took off, didn't even say goodbye LOL.

when I got there to pick him up he was painting a picture at one of the easels.

he's such a big boy! I was a little worried about him being not quite 4 yet but it turns out there's about 5 other kids with Sept b-day's too.

So, I spent the day with Maggie. Didn't do much, went to the post office to pick up my new passport. did some organizing because though I attempt to corral everything in baskets they inevitably just end up as junk catch-alls. so, i purged some junk!

heard from Jay today :)

well, I have to go and finish packing Nate's school lunch! I realize that this is going to get old fast but for now I'll enjoy the moment.
